Description

The Keepsake version of our little horses are made with your own mane or tail hair supplied from your very own special horse or pony.  If you can supply us with a good description of your horse, or photos from as many perspectives as possible (especially helpful if recreating distinctive markings, socks/stocking/blaze, piebald/skewbald etc) then Emily will do her best to replicate them to produce a Keepsake version of your own horse or pony. If purchased as a gift, then why not take a look at our Keepsake presentation boxes, engraved with the horse or recipients name to produce a very personal gift.

If you can provide a workable lock of your own horses mane or tail (we prefer mane if at all possible as it’s not as coarse as the horse tail and easier to work with) then we can arrange to have this built into your keepsake, producing a very special and personal gift.

If you are providing clippings from your own horse or pony’s mane or tail, (we will need about 6” to 7″ in length) then please ensure that it’s sent to Emily, at the address on the pdf below , held together in a bunch or hank (not sent loose in the envelope) remembering to include your name, telephone number and return address. Please send via Royal Mail ‘Signed for’ service or Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed if  irreplaceable.

Please note, as all of our horses and ponies are hand sanded, sizes may vary. Height is measured from the tip of the ear to the base of the hoof. Length is measured from the tip of the nose to the tail.

Osmo natural waxes and oils

All of our toy stables and accessories will have had at least two protective coatings of Osmo® (Osmo® uses all natural waxes and oils), the coating will allow the natural beauty of the birch grain to be retained. Up to three coats of Osmo will be applied, and the overall finish will require at least three weeks to harden sufficiently, giving the toy increased durability. Osmo® forms an extremely hardwearing, dirt-resistant and water repellent surface.

Fixtures and Fittings

All of the hinges, screws and door knobs on our stables are made from solid brass.  The hinges have all had their corners hand sanded to fit neatly into their recessed positions – giving a quality flushed fit.  The screws are then held firmly in place with solid brass nuts. (Please note, these will need checking over time – spares will be provided with each stable.) The solid brass door knobs are standard, and we also supply one hay net ring fitted to the front outside wall.

Please bare in mind that it takes us up to six weeks to produce each stable.

Once cut, they will require at least two coatings of Osmo® oil & wax which needs sufficient time to harden between coats. Whilst we try and maintain a good stock of pre-prepared selection of stables in the most popular tints, fitting doors, windows and mounting onto their chosen bases will require a few days. We will do our best to despatch your order within 14 days or sooner. However, this period may be extended during busy periods such as the lead up to Christmas.

We appreciate that there will be times when this delay won’t be acceptable for those upcoming special events, so we always try and keep a limited range of ‘off the shelf’ stock for those more immediate deliveries. We would advise, however, that you contact us direct to check on our day to day availability as we only update this ‘off the shelf’ list weekly.
